Rocco Forte Hotels is currently working on the construction of a new five-star hotel in the centre of Berlin. The Berlin luxury hotel will be called Hotel de Rome and will be a conversion of an existing building in Bebelplatz, in the Mitte area of Berlin, close to the Brandenburg Gate and opposite the Humboldt University. Facilities will include 146 bedrooms measuring a minimum of 36 square metres (105 Classic rooms, 32 Junior Suites, 8 One-bedroom Suites and a Presidential Suite); six conference suites including a banqueting hall; restaurant; bar; and a health and fitness centre with swimming pool.

The new hotel is due to open in October 2006.

The colonnaded Palm Court ballroom is stunning with its double height and glazed roof and will accommodate receptions for up to 350 people.
In addition the hotel will have five meeting rooms which will accommodate groups of 24 to 96. All suites and the ballroom will have natural light, will be equipped with the latest technology, and can be accessed via a separate entrance. There will be 30 secure underground parking spaces for guests.

The restaurant will seat 120 and will look on to a large external terrace which will be used for al fresco dining during the summer months. Our chefs will develop a cuisine based on traditional German cooking. The bar will be adjacent to the restaurant and will have a more contemporary feel.The Opera Court will be the focal point for coffee and afternoon tea. Guests will also be able to have drinks and refreshments in Bebelplatz.

The spa will have a plunge pool, steam, sauna and relaxation area, and a fully-equipped gymnasium. The original "jewel room" of the bank vault will become a 15-metre swimming pool. There will be five treatment rooms offering a range of therapies and health and beauty treatments.
